Frequently Asked Questions

What is cadence?

Cadence is the number of steps you take per minute (SPM) while running. Most recreational runners naturally cadence at 160–180 SPM. Studies show that runners who maintain a higher, more consistent cadence (180>SPM) have lower injury rates and better running efficiency.

How do I measure my baseline cadence?

During onboarding, CadenceFlow will guide you through a baseline measurement. Run at your comfortable pace, and the app will count your steps and calculate your average SPM. This baseline is then used to personalize all your sessions.

Which feedback mode should I choose?

Metronome: A rhythmic beep that guides your cadence. Great for focused training.
Voice Cues: Periodic voice announcements ("Cadence now 185") to check your pace.
Vibration: Haptic feedback on your device at your target cadence. Subtle and screen-independent.

Try all three to see what works best for your running style. You can change your preference anytime in settings.

Can I use CadenceFlow while listening to music?

Yes! CadenceFlow runs in the background and works with your music. If you choose voice cues, the app will automatically duck (lower) your music volume when speaking, then restore it after. Metronome and vibration modes don't interfere with music at all.

Can I run with the screen off?

Absolutely! CadenceFlow runs as a foreground service, which means it continues to work even when your screen is off. Perfect for preserving battery and avoiding distractions. You can still pause/resume using the notification controls.

What's the difference between Free and Pro?

Free: Full access to all 25+ sessions, custom session builder, session history, all feedback modes—but with ads shown between sessions.

Pro ($4.99 one-time): Everything in Free, plus ad-free experience and access to future pro-only features.

How do I restore my Pro purchase?

Open the App > Settings > Restore Purchase. CadenceFlow will check your Google Play account for any Pro purchases. If you've already purchased Pro on another device, this will restore your access.

How is my data stored? Is it private?

Your running data stays on your device. CadenceFlow does not upload your session history, cadence targets, or personal profile to any server. Your data is yours and yours alone.

We only collect minimal analytics (via Firebase) to improve the app, and ad data (via AdMob for free users). See our Privacy Policy for full details.

What if a session doesn't feel right?

Sessions are fully customizable. If a pre-built session is too hard or too easy, you can:

  • Adjust the target cadence in the session settings
  • Build a custom session from scratch with the Custom Session Builder
  • Try a different difficulty level (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced)

Can I export my session history?

Currently, session history is viewable in the app. We're exploring export options for future releases. If you'd like to request this feature, please email us!

The app crashed / isn't working. What do I do?

Try these steps:

  • Force stop the app: Settings > Apps > CadenceFlow > Force Stop
  • Clear app cache: Settings > Apps > CadenceFlow > Storage > Clear Cache
  • Uninstall and reinstall the app from Google Play

If the issue persists, please email us a detailed description of the problem, your device model, and Android version.

Is CadenceFlow safe to use while running?

Yes. CadenceFlow is designed to run safely in the background. However, always be aware of your surroundings while running, especially on roads. If you're distracted by the app, take it easy or pause the session. CadenceFlow is a coaching tool, not a substitute for running safety awareness.

I have a feature request or bug report. How do I submit it?

Email us at amogh.harsha2501@gmail.com with:

  • A clear description of your idea or the bug
  • Your device model and Android version
  • Steps to reproduce (for bugs)
